Admissions Process and Requirements at Iqra University

Overview

Admissions at Iqra University are based on a thorough review of all applicant credentials, conducted without regard to race, gender, age, religion, marital status, physical disabilities, or national origin. All required documents must be submitted to the Office of Admissions. The university reserves the right to modify its admissions policy without prior notice.

Generic Eligibility Criteria:

• Bachelor's Programs:

Candidates must hold one of the following qualifications, attaining either an overall 2nd division (for Non computing programs, 50% marks (for Computing Programs) and 60% marks (for Pharm D), depending on the requirements of the field or an equivalent grade:

Intermediate Education:  Specific required courses depending on the chosen discipline.


A-Levels Students: Must have 3 full credit courses of A Levels or equivalent, having completed all O Levels or equivalent requirements.


All O & A level students must submit an equivalence certificate within one month of admission.

• Master's Programs

Bachelor’s Degree: A four-year Bachelor’s degree (16 years of education) from an HEC-recognized university or equivalent (CGPA 2.50), with specific required courses according to the chosen discipline.

 

Transfer Students

Prospective transfer students must be enrolled in an HEC-recognized institution and meet all admission requirements for their respective program. After passing the admission test, students need to provide an attested copy of their mark sheet/transcript and the course outlines for processing.

Note: There is a transfer fee of Rs. 2000/- per credit hour. Students transferring within IU campuses are exempt from both the transfer fee and the admission test.

Additional Transfer Policies:

  1. Credit is not given for grades lower than a C+ (below 67% for Bachelor’s Students) and grades lower than a B (below 74-80% for Masters Students).
  2. Transfer students must meet Iqra University’s entrance requirements.
  3. Grades from other institutions are not included in Iqra University’s GPA calculation.
  4. Remedial, vocational, technical, highly specialized, and personal development courses are not accepted for credit.
  5. Transfer courses from Polytechnic Institutions and foreign community colleges will be reviewed individually.
  6. A maximum of 50% of coursework can be transferred.
  7. Specialization courses at the graduate level are not transferable.
  8. Transfer students are required to provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their respective university, in addition to providing their transcripts. 
  9. Pharmacy students are encouraged to provide a verified copy of their transcript, a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the university they want to transfer and a copy of the NOC from the Pharmacy Council.

Some academic programs may have additional requirements for transfer students, which can be confirmed with the respective Heads of Department.

Application Process

Application Fee

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s Programs: Rs. 1,500 (cash) or Bank Draft for postal requests.
  • PhD Programs: Rs. 2,000.

Available for download from the official Iqra University website (www.iqraisb.edu.pk). Forms must be submitted before the deadline.

Required Documents at the Time of Admission

  1. Mark sheets of all previously completed academic work.
  2. Equivalence Certificate from the Inter Board Chairman Committee (for candidates from other education systems).
  3. 4 passport-sized photographs.
  4. Roll number slip of previously appeared exam (for result-awaiting students).
  5. Copy of National Identity Card and/or Form B.
  6. Copy of Father’s National Identity Card.

Admission Test:

Applicants to Iqra University must undergo an entrance test, unless exempted by acceptable scores from recognized standardized tests. The admissions test is conducted on a computer and consists of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with a duration of two hours. Additionally, all Master’s and PhD candidates must attend interviews.

Applicants with acceptable scores in the following tests are exempted from the entrance test:

  2. MCAT
  3. GAT General
  4. GAT Subject

Students for some programs have the option to take either the GAT General (NTS) or the University Internal GAT Test. PhD candidates similarly have the option of taking either the GAT Subject or the University Test.

Upon admission to the university, all new students are mandated to participate in the Student Orientation Program.
