Program Overview
The four-year degree in Media Studies enables the students to be a part of and even lead this new frontier. Realizing the increasing demands of the media industry, Iqra University has introduced an inclusive Bachelor in Media Studies (BMS) programme that aims to produce highly skilled and competent media professionals and entrepreneurs.
For such a versatile and dynamic field, Iqra University Islamabad Campus offers three specializations within BMS with a range of valuable skills that are highly sought after in today’s job market. These skills include communication, critical thinking, creativity, and technological proficiency. The broad set of skills and knowledge can be applied in a variety of fields.

Specializations Within BMS
The curriculum of BMS is structured in such a way that students can choose to specialize in one area through selection of electives of a particular field. All students from each field are trained in storytelling, camera, lighting, and sound work, production, and post-production. Students then choose technically advanced electives designated for that specialization and complete their degree requirements.
1. Film & TV
The high quality of production achieved by our film students can be attributed to the internationally qualified industry experts who teach with passion and vision to bring out the creative talents of our students. Students are taken through a rigorous training cycle to provide them a real-world experience in filmmaking. For this, students get hands-on experience with full frame cameras, high quality lenses, gimbals, lighting setups, audio equipment, and post-production facilities. Classes include both creative courses such as Direction or Film Design to technical ones such as Aesthetics of Editing and Digital Compositing.
2. Mass Communication
Journalism students enjoy a state-of-the-art media studio is equipped with the ability to do real time editing using Chroma key, an 8-camera live feed setup with a 16-channel audio mixer all controlled through a state-of-the-art master control room. Starting from the basics of news, the students can choose specializing courses such as News TV and Studio Production, Documentary Writing and Direction, Online Journalism, and many more.
3. Animation
The industry these days requires technical savvy individuals who can work their magic on the computer. Whether it is for modern ways to convey information through graphics to creative storytelling for gaming, our Animation specializing students start from the basics of artwork and drawing and work their way to 2D and 3D animation. Students have access to the latest Intel i9 systems with 8 GB Graphic Cards which makes the animation and rendering processes a swift breeze.

Admission Requirement
To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor’s in Media Studies program, students must meet the following requirements:
Academic Qualifications: Students need to have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or equivalent A-level grades.
Admission Test: Applicants are required to appear in an admission test conducted by Iqra University. The test will assess their proficiency in English and analytical skills. Additionally, students will be required to take a drawing test to evaluate their creative abilities.
Submission of Documents: Students must provide all the necessary documents, including their previous academic records, at the time of admission confirmation.
