Somewhere between the bottom of the climb and the summit is the answer to the mystery why we climb.” – Greg Child

Iqra University Adventure Club in collaboration with PTCL and CDA organized a hiking activity for students, faculty and staff on 8th March 2014 at Trail No. 3, Islamabad. A sunny day with chilly winds enhanced the beauty of marvellous Margalla Hills. After a brief colourful opening ceremony, the hiking formally began around 10am. Some of the motivations behind the activity were:

• To inculcate a sense of ownership and care for nature among the participants.
• To ensure a physically fit and healthy society.
• To provide a source of entertainment and fun to the participants.
• To offer the participants a chance to interact and network with professionals from prestigious organizations like PTCL and CDA.

Plastic bags and gloves were handed to every participant for the collection of disposable garbage on the way up. At the same time, it was a healthy movement enabling participants to meet their strengths and energy for climbing monstrous mountains. Indeed, a healthy body yields a healthy mind.

A closing ceremony of the event was held at LA Montana Restaurant highlighting the need to be kind and considerate toward the environment. Furthermore, souvenir shields were presented to the representatives of the participating organizations. A refreshing and appetizing brunch was served in the end, which was enjoyed by everyone. The hiking trip concluded with gorgeous smiles on the faces and a big pack of beautiful memories.
